Krissy's MySQL Based WEBLOG

BLOG ENTRIES by DATE:

Sat Dec 28 22:41:46 CST 2002: Today I installed my new BLOG "web log" program that I wrote for myself in PHP and MySQL. Now I don't have to edit the html to update my home page. I will go to a special page with a form that I can type in these comments and save them in the MySQL database. This web page reads from the database and posts all of my updated stuff here. It is not as fancy as Lazygirl's slash site, but I wrote this myself. it Will work good for what I want. Visitors may notice the guest book is broken. I guess roach doesn't allow SSI in PHP pages, maybe I can talk him into making an exception for just my site or like write my own guest book I guess!

Tue Aug 6 08:45:05 CDT 2002: For several months now a lot of dumb people keep sending viruses to me in my email. This has been completely ineffectual. I check my email with pine, always have, always will. This makes the dumb people's microsoft operating system targeting viruses and microsoft outlook targeting viruses completely benign on my computer. My friends get spam, I get viruses. I submit the relaying addresses to the mail administrator and consequently the mail relay is blocked. So to those of you too ignorant to realize that your microsoft computer is infected, your outlook express is sending viruses to all of your friends, and last but not least lame the "script kiddies" that are sending them intentionally, get a freakin life will you!

Fri May 24 16:39:36 CDT 2002: Lisa aka Lazygirl has launched The Geek Girl Chronicle and I am a site moderator for her. Please take a moment to check out the site. It is based on slashcode and has a lot of visitor interactively including membership, a user journal, a voting booth, and an article submission area.

If you want to read more of my brainwork please visit my journal on the Linux Chix web site. I don't often update this page, but I do write in my journal from time to time.

Wed Sep 22 12:14:10 CDT 2000: Shell scripting is one of my specialities. I wrote a shell script for a local ISP as a tool for their customers to use while connected to their account by way of telnet. I wanted to share with you some help on getting you started writing shell scripts. My Howto document "How to write a shell script" is available for you as a resource in getting started and learning to write GNU Bourne-Again SHell scripts.

Which UNIX style text editor do you prefer? I started out using the Vi editor, so that is the editor that I tend to use myself. I made this short little Vi reference for those of you just learning Vi and also for myself when I need to remember how to do something.

My brother Rick is a network specialist for Raytheon in Wichita, Kansas. He is also a C++ programmer and works with linux a lot. He got me started and helped me build my first kernel. Now sometimes I can even teach him things that he doesn't know ;)

My favorite music is by the Mystic Moods Orchestra, which I do not have a web site for at this time. I plan on making some mp3's available here to download. My success with doing this on my linux computer so far as been limited. I can not find a good encoder but I think it is something that I am missing. I have a Creative Labs Live value sound card. If you can help me out with this, please email me, I would sure be happy for it.

SITE STUFF:

  • The Geek Girl Chronicle
  • The Lazygirl Network
  • Linux Resource Project

    So here they are folks, my favorite L i N k S...

Yes, the most lame and cliche of web site components is also availble here!!! That's right, my list of links, you can't have a stupid home page anymore without sharing a list of links that you like with a web community that could probably give a crap anyway ;) But I need to mention Slashdot.Org for a male dominated geek news web site that shares with me a healthy hatred of Micro$oft Corp. (all rights re served by the evil Borg).

Well, at least I take the time to say a little about each link! Next on my list, which I really should have mentioned first but oh well, is a web site for Geek Grrls (yes, Grrls) like me. The web site is the >Lazygirl Network which is a member of the Linuxchix usergroup.

I also did an ICQ download and information page for robotz.com. I almost didn't mention it since I hate ICQ now and no longer use it. I wish people would quit emailing me asking me how to get their stupid userlist back.

My shell script Howto is also available along with other Howto's and stuff on this Linux Research Project web site. It is a good web site for the linux newbie trying to take those first baby steps.
