Trillian, a great new IM program.
Trillian is a stand-alone chat client that includes support for AIM, ICQ, IRC, Yahoo! Messenger and MSN
Messenger. You can even use multiple AIM, ICQ, MSN and Yahoo! accounts at once.
Trillian also includes a skinnable interface that uses XML.
Can I talk to people on ICQ if I am using Trillian?
Yes. Trillian can be used as an alternative to the Mirabilis ICQ program. You use your ICQ UIN number. To
other ICQ users it looks as though you were also using the Mirabilis ICQ client. Little do they know how much
more you can do with Trillian than you could with the Mirabilis ICQ client. For example, you can add anyone to
your ICQ buddy list, even those who require authorization without actually waiting for their authorization!
How do I get started?
Currently, Trillian will not register a new ICQ UIN for you. You must already have an ICQ account with an ICQ
UIN number. You MUST know your ICQ
password to register your ICQ account on Trillian.
If you are already an ICQ user, then you will have an ICQ UIN number and password.
Simply download Trillian and install it. Then during the
setup process supply Trillian with your ICQ UIN and password. That's all there is to it!

Known problems with Trillian
Based on my tests, the most notable technical issue with Trillian is that it does not work well when attempting to
communicate with ICQ users that have an older version of ICQ. This would be anyone using an ICQ version
before Mirabilis released version 5 of their protocol, such as any version before the ICQ 2000 beta releases.
Where to get Trillian
Trillian is freeware. It's yours to try, for free non-commercial use, forever. There are no annoying banner
advertisements like the new Mirabilis ICQ clients have. Trillian development is continued thanks to donations
